ASTROLOGER and Cosmic Navigator Gahl Sasson will be leading a relationships workshop that delves into the love rules laid out in various mystical traditions in New York on May 2. Using myths and storytelling, Gahl weaves together the Buddhist Heart-Sutra with ancient Kabbalistic texts, Pythagoras & Psychology, Greek Tragedy and (yes) Hollywood movies to answer questions like:
- What are soul-mates and how do I know if my lover is my twin-flame?
- How can I harmonize and identify my masculine and feminine energies?
- How does astrological compatibility work and what are Love Signs?
We caught up with him for a little preview of what to expect…
MASCULINE AND FEMININE ENERGY IN RELATIONSHIPS – WHAT GIVES?
“In the Daoist tradition, the idea is that relationships begin with the ‘yang’, more masculine, element. It’s all about the sex, doing things together, always about movement and action. But if the relationship doesn’t move into the feminine ‘yin’ phase, you’ll burn out. This is why you get people who have serial love affairs that only last 6-7 months – which is the time yang is dominant, but they refuse to move into yin. This phase is about living together, being monogamous, raising children. But if that lasts too long, you get the seven-year itch – so then you need to look for ways to bring the yang back.”
WHERE DO HOLLYWOOD MOVIES COME INTO IT?
“Hollywood romances are often based on Biblical stories – and they give a lot of examples for us to follow. Mount Olympus has been replaced by the Hollywood Hills, and the same archetypes have just been reincarnated.”
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO TEACH THE WORLD ABOUT LOVE SIGNS?
“It’s about trying to understand why different love signs are compatible – but also what happens if you’re water and fire together, for example. It’s not like, ‘time to think about a divorce’, but tools for how to maintain your fire element and let him maintain his water within the relationship. Or if you’re neighbouring signs, like Aries and Pisces, who might have issues with their ‘fence’. The key there is to give each other space and respect each other’s boundaries.”
