We first discovered the goth-chic artwork of Natalie Shau searching images for a post about spiritual Halloween rituals – and we’ve had a major girl crush on the Lithuanian photographer and illustrator ever since. Who are the girls and women you draw? Do they represent different parts of you?
Yes of course, I think each portrait is a part of artist, any artist. I create heroines from different stories and fairytales, so women who are symbols of specific emotions.
What is your zodiac sign and how does this manifest in your work and life?
I am Aries, and all Aries people are very passionate and stubborn! I think this helps me a lot in my work.
What methods do you find most effective for communicating with the spirit world?
The best place to communicate with the spirit world is in nature. Just go to the forest and feel it.
How do you find balance between light and dark in your life?
My works help me cope with all dark situations in my life, and the world around me. I sometimes care too much for my own good about the awful things that are happening now, so many wars and injustices…
