RiCaprio! It’s the latest sensational celebrity pairing. But are Rihanna and Leonardo DiCaprio also a match made in astrology heaven? Kimberly Peta Dewhurst checks out their charts…

So the latest reports claim RiRi has “practically moved in with” her Leo (except he’s a Scorpio, sorry, confusing) – apparently he’s even created a special room for her to smoke in at his LA mansion. But what do these two charts say about the long-term love potential between the prince of Hollywood and his showgirl?

With Moons in opposite signs (in an almost exact 180 degree position) these two have very different needs – quite literally opposing values! The Moon governs our emotional temperament and how we feed and nurture ourselves, both physically and mentally. These two will have different ideas about what ‘home’ feels like. RiRi is dynamic, spontaneous, her independence a prerequisite. She’ll carry a somewhat ‘me first’ approach, while Leo likes a nice, harmonious environment that prioritises partnership and fairness. Now, as we all know opposites DO attract, however Leo could find himself compromising if he wants to keep firecracker Rihanna by his side.

VENUS: What do they find attractive?

Rihanna has an almost exact conjunction (they’re one degree apart) between the moon and Venus in her natal chart, and also has expansive Jupiter in this sign too – that’s a LOT of Fiery Aries energy! No wonder this dreamy Pisces chick is so feisty. So how does this blend with Leo’s Scorpio Venus sign? (Note his Sun and Mars are in Scorp too…) Aries and Scorpio are five signs apart, an angle called a Quincunx in astrology forming one of the most complex aspects between planets. Where Aries is blissfully naive and trusting, while Scorpio has an intensely investigative approach. Where Aries is rash and hot-headed, Scorpio is stealthy, intuitive and emotional. Both are Mars ruled signs but carry very different energies of the ‘planet of war’ – and an ardent sexuality.
MARS: How is their sex life?

Mars shows how we assert ourselves and exert our energies, including ardent sexual urges. This pairing of neighbouring zodiac signs, Scorpio and Sagittarius, doesn’t bode well for the couple, as free-wheeling Sagittarius wants to roam, while Scorpio wants to go deep. Sagittarius is abundance and fun while Scorpio is private and mysterious. No doubt this blend of fire and water will create steam, but the long-term potential isn’t a particularly easy ride.

When couples have Mercury signs that are not compatable they’ll often find themselves in the midst of a communication breakdown! Rhianna’s Pisces North Node shows her stepping further and further into her creative freedom and exploring life on her own ephemeral terms, while Leonardo is destined to focus on embracing what he sees as the more fundamental truths in life. The Sun is also conjunct the North Node in both their charts, making pursuing these ideals a top priority in life.
The verdict? Together, these two create an incredibly powerful union that looks fun while it lasts, and their compatible conversation style means they’ll always be friends. There’s also enough surface attraction for them to remain f***-buddies – but while Rihanna can draw strength from Leo, eventually he could tire of her foot-loose free-spiritedness. Jealousy could also feature in the dynamic from both sides, meaning both end up as losers in the game of love.
