This week I’ve mainly been LOLing at my cameo in season two of Be Here Nowish…
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for – season two of Numi contributors’ Alexandra Roxo and Natalia Leite’s web show Be Here Nowish! NYC’s hipster queer community turned out in force for the season premier at the Jane Hotel Tuesday night, which was hosted by Alexandra, Natalia and Karley “Slutever” Sciortino, who’s guesting as a featured writer this series.
And y’know, I kind of had to be there too, since I only landed myself a cameo appearance in episode 1. The opening scene no less! You can watch the trailer for season 2 below, and full see the full episode and check out my performance on the Guardian website.
For the uninitiated, I often say that Be Here Nowish is kind of like the Numinous in a TV show – which isn’t really doing it justice. For starters it’s way funnier, and also like a whole production, with a crew, and multiple shoot locations in NYC and LA.
But in season one, main characters Sam and Nina, decide to leave their unhealthy life in Brooklyn behind and head to LA in search of a spiritual awakening by way of kombucha and colon cleansing. Season two picks up where the action left off, with Sam still in LA and carving a new career as a life coach, addressing her celibacy issues with experiments in Orgasmic Meditation and spiritual speed-dating.
Think an edgier Girls, with extra kundalini yoga and plant meds. And since it feels like 2015 was the year that half the NYC spiritual community actually moved to LA (life imitates art?), you will obviously see yourself and all the people you know in this show – literally in some cases. Watch out for our own Louise Androlia and Elyssa Jakim making an appearance too (which makes all the numinous red heads in one show, woah!)
Natalia and Alexandra are distributing the show themselves, and you can get the first two eps on Vimeo NOW (not even nowish), with the next two being uploaded next week. Re last week’s post on the lack of laughter in my life of late, thank you Universe for this.
