LIKE, MAJOR: KICKSTARTER TAROT PROJECT

LOOK what we found on Kickstarter. Artist and illustrator Amy Swartz (of Tuscaloosa, Alabama) is recreating the 22-card Major Arcana portion of the 78 card tarot deck on 6×8″ wooden panels, as a 1000-edition deck.

The project itself sounds like it was written in the cards. Explains Amy in her pitch; “I’ve been wanting to do a major illustrative project for a while. Then suddenly about a year ago, I started thinking about tarot decks. I have no idea where the thought came from, especially since I had never used a deck and didn’t even know what or how many cards it had. I started researching immediately, and within about a week I had filled an entire Moleskine journal with interpretations, symbols, and meanings. Brainstorming for the Wooden Tarot has completely consumed my life. I’ve worked for months on the ideas and sketches to the point where I even have tarot related dreams at night.”

The cards feature Amy’s trademark “faintly creepy and macabre fantasy wildlife” (which are often pretty cute, in a faintly creepy and macabre way), and for as little as $5 backers will receive a PDF of the full deck. The project is already funded, but new backers have until April 15 to pledge $25 or more to secure a full signed and numbered deck. So go support this tarot project on Kickstarter.

Just spreading the love, Numi x

p.s. Plus you’ll probably find a Numinous-related project on Kickstarter one day, and so we could use the karma.
