ABOUT

“Numi” is British lifestyle writer Ruby Warrington (or rather ‘Mystic Ruby,’ as she was known to her former colleagues at the UK Sunday Times), who came up with the concept for The Numinous during conversations with her friend, the eminent astrologer Shelley Von Strunckel.

“It’s my favourite word, it means ‘that which is unknown, or unknowable’,” explained Shelley, as the Universe leaned across the table and flicked a light switch on in Ruby’s head. And wouldn’t that be a brilliant name for a chic new site about everything mystical…and cool?

And so, in summer 2013, The Numinous was born. Working with a magical team of collaborators, including, in no particular order of adorableness, Louise Androlia, Raquel Griffin, Betsy Cohen, Stephanie Theobald, Michael Domitrovich, Aurora Tower, Madeline Giles, and more, Ruby set about creating a space where Celine shoes and the Celestine Prophecy could exist in beautiful harmony.

Where multiple strands of new age (now age!) thinking and post-modern spirituality inform every modern girls’ very earthly concerns and desires. We are living (no matter how it might feel after a particularly blissed-out yoga session), in a material world after all, and who says just because you believe in fairies, you can’t also believe that Marc Jacobs is the true manifestation of God’s Gift to Women?

And this blog is just the beginning. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @The_Numinous for updates on new posts and news about what’s next.

Ciao for now, lovers. Numi x

RUBY WARRINGTON
Ruby is a British lifestyle writer, currently located in NYC. Formerly Features Editor on the celebrated glossy Sunday Times Style supplement in the UK, she still writes extensively across all sections of the magazine – which might mean interviewing Lady Gaga for a cover story, researching the latest in trends in fashion, health and beauty or getting under the skin of our most neurotic social trends.

She also contributes to numerous other papers and womens’ magazines, in the UK and the US, and has a regular fitness column, Fit in the City, based on New York’s way-of-life workout culture, in the Mail on Sunday.

Ruby studied for a BA in Fashion Promotion at the London College of Fashion, graduating with First Class honours in 1998. She lives with her husband and her ginger tomcat, Larry.
